Job Title: Manager, Production Control

Department: Materials & Production Control

Classification: Non-exempt                                

Reports to: Plant Manager

 

Job Summary

This position provides leadership to the production control organization with experience in good industry practices. Must have a commitment process, measurement and accountability. The Production Control Manager is involved in the pre-production (planning) stage as well as Inventory Control. A large part of production control management involves dealing with people.


Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area to 5S Standards
  • Implement all aspects of AGCO Lean and Quality Management systems
  • Provide direction and management of the production schedule and material ordering functions.
  • Ensure successful execution of the build and inventory plan
  • Lead the production control group to support customer order fulfilment.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Production Control associates in planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
  • Manage capacity, lead-time and yield across fab, and assembly to meet customer volume and on time delivery requirements.
  • Develop planning tools to improve visibility, reduce errors, increase efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Work with the Production Control Team to implement all Inventory goals
  • Monitor inventory and lead corrective actions to insure inventory plan is met.
  • Oversees department KPIs and leads team to corrective action
  • Leads team to insure standard practices are in place for all processes
  • Development of the strategy for the Materials Organization
  • Support Supplier Quality issues
  • Create and manage kanban levels where needed
  • Create and review production schedules
  • Define and resolve potential part deficiencies that could prevent execution of the production schedule and sales plan
  • Create reports as needed to support planning, scheduling, and inventory control
  • Lead the team in aggressively attaining inventory accuracy
  • Take an active role in inventory management
  • Achieve all Inventory goals
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement process improvements

 

Safety Responsibilities

Essential skills

Education

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • APICS Certification preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in production control
  • Previous Management experience is preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, ability to work in many systems. (SQL, Excel, Access, MRP)
  • Good Communication skills with ability to communicate at all management levels
  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually with a real commitment to change and continuous improvement

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Ability to use various tools including (tape measure, wrenches, screw drivers etc.), read blueprints and tape measure
  • Ability to read, write and use basic math skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow precise instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers and across departments

 

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise of team of production control coordinators.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works with and near large machinery and equipment daily. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions including temperatures ranging from 40°F to 105°F. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or craw and frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee must be able to stand for up to twelve hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

The employee must wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, respirator, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)

 

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.
