Design Engineer

Budapest, Hungary


This position will be responsible for engineering, designing and developing components and assemblies to support business across AGCO G&P (Grain & Protein). As primary task, engineer will support Material Handling (MH) / Catwalks and Towers (CT) Engineer To Order (ETO) works for Cimbria Thisted Manufacturing, including support for Thisted production team. Beyond that engineer will support the global Product Cost Optimization (PCO) projects and will work as a contractual engineer on global ETO and New Product Improvement (NPI) projects. Furthermore the engineer will support sales department to provide the best solution for customer. The engineer will interpret plans, drawings and specifications to achieve the product requirements, while making sure the design conform to specifications, plans, laws, regulations and safety standards. The engineers are necessary to customize solutions for custom grain and protein systems – each project/product will be different.

 

What You Will Do:


• Execute industrial design guidelines for AGCO G&P brands existing and future products
• New product development projects deliver expected levels of industrial design, usability, design for manufacturing and end user experience.
• Design efficiency to support customer orders
• This job will have an EME and a global impact on the business by establishing new AGCO G&P design strategies (particularly Material Handling).
• Having a high quality product offering enables and significantly increases the probability of AGCO G&P obtaining a “total solution” approach and enables the company to maximize sales globally.
• This job will have a significant global impact as to how dealers and customers perceive our entire brands – depending on the quality of design and ease of assembly.

What You Will Bring:


• Expertise in mechanical designing based on regional needs. Functional knowledge required to fully scope this transition includes:
•    Experience in the design and development of material handling or conveying systems related equipment is preferred.
•    Experience with multiple phases of Product Development systems and tools in support of defining missing elements in the cross-site strategies
• Job holder needs to have the business acumen to understand the customer’s needs of the MH, CT and other AGCO G&P systems. This includes:
•    Understanding of the agriculture industry, particularly Grain storage, conveying and structure product lines across the company, to assure that the resulting organization can perform the primary task of delivering appropriate product.
•    Good understanding & knowledge of metal fabrication and material conveyance designs, components, and Design trends and understanding of the different trends in general level also.
•    General business analysis expertise to assure that evaluations of resulting products correctly assess value added to AGCO G&P in the prioritization of the multiple conflicting priorities to be optimized (i.e. cost vs. performance, quality vs. time to market, profitability vs. initial investments, cost reduction vs. business stability, etc)
• Leadership/people management:
•    People management – Lead the detail and/or production in different AGCO G&P sites.
•    Work with other AGCO G&P sites in global platform projects and support their implementation.
• Requires the ability to innovate the integration of components/systems in ways that support the local and global needs of different AGCO G&P product configurations and designs and still creates brand specific experience to customers.
•    Exceptional problem solving skills as each end user installation site requires different configurations and often requires changes to Designs / BOMS and ability to do so effectively in a cost efficient and functional manner.
•    Be part of making decisions on requirements, cost, and application on end user sites. 
• The job holder requires the following interpersonal skills in order to successfully execute job responsibilities:
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to be flexible – the product line is customized for the customer
•    Ability to address and resolve issues in an objective and sensitive ways.
•    The job holder must work closely with many departments within AGCO G&P including engineering, sales, manufacturing and purchasing.
• The job holder will have the following minimal and preferred qualifications:

•A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. 
•2+ years experience in Product Design in a mid-sized to large, international company, which requires lower volume and high complexity and customization is required.
•Experience designing steel fabricated parts required.
•Pro-E/Windchill experience strongly preferred.
•Agricultural experience is preferred.
•Strong cross disciplinary & international education & work experience is preferred.
