Diagnostic Content Software Engineer

The engineering team at AGCO has an immediate opening for a Diagnostic Content Software Engineer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the service and engineering teams to define, develop, and release service tool interface software for hay tools products, and must be able to operate with a high degree of freedom.  Some of the desired capabilities for the person filling this role are:

  • Experience with machine electronic diagnostic and configuration systems
    • A solid understanding of electronic diagnostic and configuration systems for mobile machinery
    • Experience with CAN, UDS, OBDII, and controller software flash and parameterization protocols desired
    • Experience writing and executing software test cases
    • Experience with farm machinery, specifically hay equipment, is a strong plus
  • Experience creating basic functional software sequences
    • Ability to leverage software libraries or design robust software sequences to control machine diagnostics, calibration, flash, and configuration
    • Ability to understand and adhere to software design and coding standards
  • Standard communications
    • Familiarity with mobile machinery communication protocols and standards, such as SAE J1939 and ISO 11783
    • Solid understanding of network communications
  • User Interface Design
    • Provide input to create efficient, intuitive, and user-friendly technician interfaces for mobile machinery diagnostics
    • Strong customer focus is a must
  • Product support and training
    • Provide prompt support to the technical service department and manufacturing line as needed
    • Contribute to informative, relevant product training for internal technical service staff, service training, and other engineering teams including field test
  • Teamwork
    • Ability to function effectively as a member of a small, high-output team
    • Ability and willingness to innovate given limited direction and contribute beyond your direct area of responsibility
    • Coordinate and communicate scheduling of releases with development teams
  • Attitude
    • Solid decision making skills, and the ability to make decisions with limited direction
    • A desire to participate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of freedom
  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or other relevant technical area is required.
    • Candidates with equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Experience
    • Three or more years of experience with software development, mobile equipment service or other relevant technical experience is preferred.
