This position’s primary role is responsible for executive leadership of the Morton Operations Center, the global warehousing, assembly, and fulfillment center for Precision Planting. 



About the Role: 

This position will be responsible for executive leadership of the Morton Operations Center, the global warehousing, assembly, and fulfillment center for Precision Planting.  As the Director, Supply Chain & Logistics the successful candidate will lead a team of department heads from across the Operations organization; therefore, strong collaborative leadership skills are essential for success. The primary objective, of this role, is to equip and enable the continued rapid growth of the Precision Planting business, achieving this objective involves several duties and responsibilities that require a wide range of experience and demonstrated skills. 

What would I be doing? 

  • Oversee the Receiving, Quality Control, Production, Inventory, and Shipping organizations within the Morton Operations Center.  Currently, the organization encompasses 350+ employees with continued growth expected in the coming years. 

  • Maintain and champion the Organizational Mission which seeks constantly for the best customer outcome.   

  • Define and refine performance metrics for Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery (SQCD) across the organization.  Special care should be taken to ensure departmental metrics do not conflict with the organizational goal of customer centricity. 

  • Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments. 

  • Manage fixed and variable costs across the organization in support of business growth objectives. 

  • Foster a safety culture within the organization, measured by the continued improvement of the organizational TRIR. 

  • Work closely with Purchasing and Sales Operations to manage inventory levels and turns in line with organizational strategic objectives. 

  • Assist in the hiring and development of leaders. 

  • Complete and conduct employee reviews. 

  • Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; coach, counsel, and correct employees as needed. 

  • Other job responsibilities and duties as assigned by your manager. 

  • The Director, Supply Chain & Logistics will report directly to the Vice President of Product.  


What must I have? 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior Manager within a distribution or assembly organization with career experience in all core supply chain functions. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, preferred. 

  • Associate degree, required. 

  • Prior experience in budget preparation and P&L management, required. 

  • Solid knowledge of assembly, warehousing, and logistics procedures. 

  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems. 

  • Familiarity with GP ERP System and SCALE WMS System, preferred. 

  • Familiarity with SAP, a plus. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.  

  • Demonstrated leadership, staff development, and change management skills. 

  • Proven track record of fostering high employee engagement. 

  • Able to collaborate effectively across the many disciplines of the organization. 

  • Able to maintain a high level of productivity while meeting urgent demands and deadlines. 

  • Project management skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to brainstorm out-of-the-box solutions. 

  • Humility to accept the best solution to a problem, even if it’s not yours.
