Job Summary

The QA Technician thoroughly examines material goods on the production line and either approves or rejects an item based on its final quality. The QA Tech also actively involved in manufacturing process improvement activities within the plant including fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly processes

Job Function and Responsibilities

  • Conduct process and product quality audits
  • Perform final inspection of finished product to ensure products conform to specifications
  • Measurement and inspection of fixture design and development
  • Maintenance of plant measurement equipment calibration program
  • Maintain quality reporting, with the ability to escalate quality as required
  • Focus on continuous improvement of manufacturing processes
  • Create work instructions and documentation for processes


Skills and Abilities

  • Able to read and interpret shop drawings
  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter and able to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T
  • Must work well in a team setting
  • Ability to translate skills and knowledge to others
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Industry certification a plus


General Requirements

  • Ability to work inside and outside at variable temperatures
  • Regular and consistent attendance according to a scheduled shift
  • Must wear appropriate PPE (eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)

Additional Training

Quality Assurance Technicians/ Inspectors are required to successfully complete the class room section of the GSI Weld School. The training materials cover the following topics:

  • AWS. D1.1 Terms and Definitions
  • Identification of Defects and Discontinuities, per  AWS D1.1
  • Print Reading,
  • AWS Welding Symbols,
  • GSI Weld Work Instructions
  • Proper use of Weld gages including Fillet Weld Gage

Upon completion of the class room training, the Technician shall be escorted to the shop floor to perform inspection of welds to the satisfaction of their instructor and/or the site Quality Lead.


This position requires flexibility of scheduling as plant production may vary from a 4x10 work schedule with additional hours on Fridays and Saturdays to a regular 5x8 schedule with additional hours as needed Monday thru Friday plus Saturdays.
