About the Job:
Precision Planting is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide engineering expertise in design, implementation, and deployment of on-farm planting and harvesting equipment for advanced precision agriculture applications.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the owner for the design, testing, and productionizing of your products.
- Develop, tune, and test control algorithms
- Validate proof of concept software on research equipment operating in the field.
- Gain understanding of vehicle CAN use as inputs for control software
- Use cutting-edge engineering design, modeling, and rapid prototyping tools to assist in research and invention of new product designs
- Collaborate with our in-house attorney to draft patent applications for inventions you create
- You will have the opportunity to see your own ideas for helping farmers come to reality
- U.S. travel is expected, ranging from 5%-10%
Minimum Qualifications:
- Solid modeling of mechanical parts using Creo or similar tools
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages (C, C++, python)
- Familiarity with graphical programming environments (Simulink)
- Creation of detailed part prints as necessary for prototype and production parts
- Familiarity with prototyping techniques: 3D printing, machining, fabrication, instrumentation, and data analysis
- Demonstrate exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate the ability to brainstorm out-of-the-box solutions
- High degree of mechanical aptitude and experience
- High attention to detail
- You have humility to accept the best solution to a problem, even if it’s not yours
- Convey an eagerness and optimism about the future of agriculture
- Willingness to buck trends and conventional thinking in pursuit of better outcomes for farmers
