Job Title: Industrial Engineering Technician
Department: CI Shipping
Shift: 1st Shift, 7am-3:30pm, OT starts at 5am, plus Saturdays when production is high
Classification: Non-exempt/Hourly starting at $20/hr and up depending on experience
Reports to: Sr. Production Manager
Job Summary
The Industrial Engineering Tech will assist with and lead multiple projects directly aligned to the departmental metrics. The Tech will utilize CI/Lean principles to ensure effective - efficient operational measurements are met and or exceeded with regard to areas assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and drive process improvements to completion in a timely fashion utilizing department metrics and project management skills.
- Involvement in CER creation and justification for equipment and process improvement expenditures
- Promote a team environment through effective communication and associate involvement in a way that fosters excitement, enthusiasm, engagement, and positive momentum towards further process improvements.
- Proactively engage the support of indirect support personnel to achieve departmental and business objectives.
- Provide support to assigned Business Unit to facilitate completion of daily cell goals as required (5S+1, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and cost)
- Facilitate and Lead Continuous Improvement events that support team and employee development in Lean principals, tools, and concepts.
- Expected to develop and maintain required relationships with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Engineering, Materials Planning, Shipping, and other areas as required meeting targeted business goals and objectives.
- Provide team support and guidance with demonstrated problem solving skills, and monitor development of Standardized work documentation, material flow improvements, and progress tracking in areas assigned.
- Support LDMS and VSM teams, update and drive assigned action items to closure.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area to 5S Standards.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities

- Report all near-misses, incidents, injuries, illnesses, including mobile equipment or property damage.
- Participation in the site Safety and Health Program.

Essential skills
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous spray painting preferred.
- Ability to use various tools including (tape measure, wrenches, screw drivers etc.), read blueprints and tape measure.
- Ability to read, write and use basic math skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow precise instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers and across departments.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works with and near large machinery and equipment daily. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions including temperatures ranging from 40°F to 105°F. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
Physical Demands
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or craw and frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee must be able to stand for up to twelve hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, respirator, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)
Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
