Continuous Improvement Leader Job

Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading teams and facilitating workshops to constantly drive and implement Continuous Improvement/Lean processes to improve throughput, reduce inventory, and improve ergonomics. Work in conjunction with Engineering Manager and Manufacturing Engineer on developing and executing Continuous Improvement initiatives.    

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate projects, events and activities
  • Execute projects, events, and activities associated with soft and hard savings targets and track
  • Data analysis to support teams in decision making process
  • Problem solving
  • Coach and develop associates on continuous improvement concepts
  • Learn and educate associates on continuous improvement concepts
  • Plan/do/check/act improvements on processes
  • Support operations team on KPI improvements
  • Support cultural change
  • Standardize, integrate and benchmark best practices
  • Act as a change agent
  • Project management
  • Propose improvement projects to operations management team
  • Follow-up and sustain on improvements from projects, events and workshops
  • Analyse and report data on key performance metrics

 

Safety Responsibilities

Essential skills

Education

High School Diploma.  

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Working knowledge of implementing Lean within a manufacturing plan.  Lean certification preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Possess above average analytical skills.
  • Must have excellent communications skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).

     

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office and manufacturing environment. This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works with or near to moving trucks, trailers, fork trucks, and near large machinery and equipment daily. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions including temperatures ranging from 40°F to 105°F.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee must be able to stand for up to twelve hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

The employee must wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)

 

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.
