Job Summary

Support Product Management project lists with manufacturing launch of New and Current Product Significant Changes.  This will include developing micro schedules in support of Manufacturing Engineering function to ensure all project milestones are completed timely.

Responsible for providing processes designed to enable Operations to effectively meet and exceed Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.  This will be completed by analysing and maximizing efficient workflow, layout and assembly methods.

Support developing and maintaining engineered rates and standards for manufacturing processes to reflect accurate cost models aiding in driving proper focus for design and operational improvement projects.

Job Responsibilities

Day-to-day activities

  • Development and execution detailed project plans supporting New and Significant Current Product Changes
  • Utilization of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools including Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Process Flow Charts, and Process Design Sheet Development.
  • Leads and participates in the completion pre-production preparedness activities. Including development of standard production rates, support development of production routings, development and execution of production fixture and quality gauging / tooling required for production, creation of work instructions, execute and support IPPPAP efforts.
  • Support Continuous Improvement upon current methods to support Engineering Change Management
  • Develop and maintain Time Standards tables for rate calculations for labor and machine based processes.  Work cross functionally with Plant Accounting, Manufacturing as well as Corporate Accounting on these standards as they relate to costing. 
  • Perform time studies to validate Pre-Determined Time Study table information as well as confirmation of manufacturing rates associated to NPI and CPC projects
  • Execution to other daily duties as outlined on a ME Standard Work documentation
  • Assist manufacturing and engineering in understanding methods and rates, as well as in identifying potential causes that lead to low productivity, low utilization of labor or equipment, and/or missed shipments


  • Work with cross-functional teams across plant and organization
  • Communicate relevant technical information including projects & results to all levels of the organization
  • Secure commitment from stakeholders and ensure timely critical decisions are made


  • Responsible for the design and development for all jigs and fixtures for NPI/CPC projects.
  • Responsible for documenting work instructions, time study analysis.
  • Work with peers to ensure that all new or redesigned production systems meet or exceed OSHA requirements.
  • Complete and document IPPAP for new product / component launches
  • Execution of tasks will be in accordance with APS and AQS tools and methodologies

Essential skills


Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering/Technology or related field.


Qualifications and Experience

  • 2+ years ME and/or IE experience
  • Project Management software and development experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Engineering documentation and Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge in labor standard setting techniques and cost analysis in manufacturing.  Basic MOST experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Understanding of work cell and facility layout, assembly line balancing, and material flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication, welding, light assembly, kitting processes
  • Strong technical, process focused resource with a deep understanding of optimization.
  • Able to identify, analyse in a structured way and find practical solutions to on-going process issues.  A proven problem solver
  • Design experience for Manufacturing Tooling / Fixtures / Jigs
  • Project Management software and development experience required.  Strong Computer Skills including: MS Office, Visio, Auto-Cad or Pro-E
  • MRP system use experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints and technical specifications required
  • Interpersonal skills —ability to work in a team environment, and to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority
