Plant Manager/Site Leader - Assumption, IL
Who We Are Looking For
GSI is seeking a talented, passionate and highly motivated professional to join the team as Plant Manager/Site Leader. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record driving operational improvements and building a culture of lean and continuous improvement. This position will also work hand in hand with the sales and commercial side of the business to help facilitate rapid growth.
What You Will Do
- Manage all operational aspects for a build to order, low volume, high complexity, high variation environment, with short lead times business
- Delivers results and meets metrics and financial commitments
- Deep operational experience in “implementing” Lean where it did not exist before, experience shaping and sustaining lean culture
- Equipment/operational experience in metal fabrication, paint, welding, assembly, metal cutting/forming (lasers, punches, brakes, forming, etc.)
- Extremely “resourceful”, a builder vs. a maintainer
- Exceptional materials background, material flow, Theory of Constraints, ERP systems
- Commercially minded, loves getting out in the field to see equipment installations and resolve issues to further continuous improvement efforts
- Exceptional developer of talent, proven track record of building strong teams in a fast-paced, built to order environment
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology or related field.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification (preferred)
- 10+ years in Operations
- Minimum 3-5 years managing a Plant whereby successes were measurable and sustained.
- Must have demonstrated and measurable achievements transforming operational excellence across all operational functions.
- The strong operational excellence should include demonstrated leadership in lean and six sigma.
- Experience in a high mix, low volume discrete manufacturing production environment.
- Strong builder of teams, and above average experience working cross-functionally.
- Full P&L responsibility a plus.
- Must be highly resourceful with a strong ME/Problem solving background.
- Outstanding business acumen, with a passion for growth.
- Proven track record of implementing Lean, and driving value added operational metrics that are believed by the customer.
- Proven track record of delivering results, while maintaining a win-win for internal and external customers.
- Strong influencer, ability to deal with ambiguity, and great track record of meeting commitments.
- Past history of challenging the status quo using data to make informed fast-paced decisions in the best interest of the Company.
