Job Summary

Support production and manufacturing processes of the Assumption Grain Conditioning Lines to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets are met.  Act as Technical Lead, drive Continuous Improvement activities and work cohesively with cross-functional teams to improve the customer experience.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Act as Technical Lead to achieve production/manufacturing targets.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with Operations, Engineering and Materials teams.
  • Provide direct problem solving support to the production and quality functions.
  • Support development of new product and engineering designs.
  • Support manufacturing change management as the point of contact/liaison between product engineering and production management.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain manufacturing cost standards on existing products, as well as new product introduction.
  • Communicate relevant technical information, including projects & results, to all levels of the organization.
  • Lead projects to increase operational efficiency (OEE) and waste reduction/standard work (LEAN).
  • Responsible for documentation and design of all jigs and fixtures in assigned area(s).
  • Document and maintain work instructions (including setup and changeovers).
  • Drive projects/tasks to reduce safety issues (KPI: Lost Time Incident Rate, Near Misses).
  • Support investigation of customer complaints and troubleshooting of warranty/customer return items.




Safety Responsibilities

  • Report all near-misses, incidents, injuries, illnesses, including mobile equipment or property damage.
  • Participation in the site Safety and Health Program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Essential skills


Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering or Technical Field.


Qualifications and Experience


    • Minimum of five years’ experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment. 
    • Strong mechanical & technical aptitude with the ability to deliver innovative products and solutions.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers and across departments.
    • Experience with Electrical Assy. and Mechanical Assy. processes.
    • Ability to work either independently, or in a team setting while demonstrating a positive work attitude.
    • Proven track record in project management.
    • Demonstrated ability to produce results through process optimization and improvements.
    • Excellent team player with strong time management and creative problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work in a deadline oriented and fast-paced environment.
    • Design experience with tooling/fixtures/jigs.
    • Working knowledge of machine control interfaces (PLC/HMI).
    • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, Visio, Auto-Cad or Pro-E.
    • Very strong English language skills.


    • Experience with metal fabrication.
    • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
    • Experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers or distributors.
    • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works with and near large machinery and equipment daily. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions including temperatures ranging from 40°F to 105°F. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.


Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or craw and frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms. The employee must be able to stand for up to twelve hours per day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


The employee must wear personal protective equipment (i.e. eye protection, respirator, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, sleeves, etc.)



Willingness to travel when required.
