POSITION TITLE: Operational Purchaser                   

                                                                                                                                                              

REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Manager

 

 

I.              POSITION PURPOSE:

·         This position will be responsible for the continuous material flow and availability at GSI Plant Hungary.

 

               

II.            MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:       

·         Issue Purchase Orders based on system requirements, engineering forecast, ad-hoc requirements coming from engineering or production

·         Follow up Purchase Orders and adjust dates, quantities according to production needs. Keep the system up to date.

·         Track progress of inbound shipments

·         Find alternative supplier if the primary supplier can't supply the required parts in time and quality

·         If supplier incoterm requires the shipping team has to be notified about the pick-up with all relevant data

·         Ensure right level of inventory is available at the plant or at the supplier side. Adjust min - max quantities in the system accordingly

·         Update forecast on a weekly level together with the required departments and communicate to the suppliers

·         Invoices are tracked and in case of any deviation it has to be communicated with the supplier, finance for correction

·         File POs, PO receipt, delivery notes on a daily basis

·         Upcoming issues are dealt with urgency involving the necessary departments

·         Quality issues are monitored and POs are adjusted accordingly, credit notes to be followed up

·         Track outsourced operation if its required by production

·         Preparing daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hock reports

·         Back-up other Purchaser colleagues if it’s required 

·         Takes active role in the localization of non-EU suppliers (identification and setup of new vendors)                                                                                                                                                                                                    

                                                                                                                                                                                                     

III.           FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

·         Intermediate experience at multinational production or forwarding company

·         Basic experience with ERP/MRP systems

 

IV.           BUSINESS EXPERTISE:

·         This position requires an in-depth understanding of production scheduling

·         This position requires a basic knowledge of production

·         This position requires a basic understanding of the steel manufacturing industry

·         This position requires a basic understanding of agricultural business

·         This position requires general overview of quality measurements

 

 

V.            LEADERSHIP/PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

·         Ability to communicate business needs to the management and the manufacturing both

 

VI.           PROBLEM SOLVING:

·         Supplier unable to fulfill Purchase Order in quantity and/or quality

·         Supplier invoices are not matching with the agreed prices / delivered quantities

·         Production urgent raw material requirement

 

VII.         NATURE OF IMPACT

 

·         This job will have a direct impact on the production via the purchasing efficiency (cost-savings and on-time availability).

·         Also an indirect impact on customer satisfaction and sales by selection of best and most cost efficient material.

·         The job holder must be able to work closely with many departments within GSI Plant

 

 

X.            QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The job holder will have the following minimal and preferred qualifications:

 

·         Related college or university degree is a must (technical/engineering specialization is an advantage);

·         Relevant experience at a manufacturing company;

·         Experience at a multinational company is an advantage;

·         Negotiation level English language skills (both verbal and written);

·         Experience with ERP/MRP systems;

·         Customer oriented attitude.
