The Category Buyer is responsible for managing the sourcing of multiple sub-categories within a broader category. This role ensures supplier strategy alignment, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and risk management while supporting the overall category strategy led by the Global Category Manager Procurement and Regional Category Manager Procurement.
The Category Buyer plays a key role in supplier selection, market analysis, cost negotiations, and ensuring supplier performance meets business requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Operations and Finance teams. Success measured is based on spend addressed, value delivered, and overall service to stakeholders.
Your Impact:
- Accountable for savings target execution for Operations and Facilities categories in Italy.
- Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluations and contract negotiations.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and conditions.
- Cost Optimization: Drive initiatives for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Responsible for RFx preparation, execution, and analysis. For commodities in scope develop, and/or assist Regional and Global Category Managers to execute long-term strategy deployment, supplier cost modelling, supplier opportunity assessments, supplier financial analysis, make/buy analyses, negotiations, long-term contract establishment, continuous supplier performance improvement, and supplier relationship development.
- Assist the Regional and Global Category Managers in successfully contracting suppliers to provide AGCO with cost-optimized commodities. Develop a solid working knowledge of certain category trends including industry trends, cost drivers
- Manages priorities and competing demands, with a sense of optimism, flexibility, and ownership, effectively managing internal customer expectations including special projects.
Your Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field.
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience in sourcing is a must, preferably in indirect operations categories, knowledge of Purchase-to-Pay process.
- Team player and be able to work in a multicultural environment, always looking for improvements, be able to drive change and motivate other people, strong analytical and influencing skills, excellent negotiation skills with external suppliers, action and results driven, be able to work independently
- Good knowledge of ERP system, Excel and PowerPoint,
- Excellent communications skills in English and Italian

Compensation
Applicable salary range: €35,000 – €55,000 gross annual salary
The compensation range specified in this job posting represents an indicative range for the role. Final remuneration will be defined based on the selected candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable EU pay transparency and pay equity regulations.
