The Director, Ideal Combine Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for the global IDEAL Combine engineering organization. This role is accountable for the performance, development, and execution of engineering activities supporting the IDEAL platform throughout the product lifecycle, including new product development, product improvement, quality enhancement, cost optimization, validation, and technology integration.  

The incumbent leads multiple engineering managers and technical leaders, establishes the long-term product and technology roadmap, and aligns engineering priorities with AGCO's business strategy, customer needs, manufacturing objectives, and future harvesting technology vision.  

This position serves as a key member of the Harvesting Engineering Leadership Team and partners across Product Management, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Precision Ag, Digital, and Regional Commercial organizations to deliver world-class harvesting solutions. 

 

Your Impact 

  • Develop and execute the long-term engineering strategy for the global IDEAL Combine platform, aligning technology roadmaps, innovation priorities, and engineering objectives with AGCO’s harvesting strategy 

  • Lead and develop a global engineering organization, including engineering managers and technical leaders, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement 

  • Own engineering performance and delivery across the IDEAL Combine portfolio, ensuring successful product launches, platform enhancements, lifecycle management, and compliance with safety and quality standards 

  • Drive engineering excellence by implementing innovative technologies, improving engineering processes, and strengthening future product capabilities 

  • Manage engineering investments, budgets, resource planning, and strategic prioritization to support business objectives and long-term growth 

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Digital and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment across functions and successful execution of strategic initiatives 

  • Build organizational capability through succession planning, talent development, workforce planning, and the development of future engineering leaders and technical experts 

  • Represent the engineering organization at executive level, providing strategic leadership, risk management, and business guidance while ensuring customer needs and market insights are translated into engineering priorities 

 

Your Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline 

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, product development, or technical organizations 

  • Proven track record of leading complex product development programs and large-scale engineering organizations 

  • Demonstrated success in leading managers, technical leaders, and global cross-functional teams within matrix environments 

  • Strong business acumen, strategic planning capability, and experience driving organizational performance through engineering excellence 

  • Preferred: Advanced degree (MSc or MBA), experience with agricultural machinery, harvesting equipment, or large mobile machinery, as well as technology transformation, innovation initiatives, and global product platform leadership

This role follows AGCO’s on‑site work model, with employees primarily working from an AGCO location a minimum of 5 days per week to support collaboration and teamwork.
