Mechanical Engineer

Headsight (Bremen, IN), a subsidiary of AGCO(Duluth, GA), is a leading provider of control systems for agricultural harvesters.  We provide solutions that improve harvest effectiveness and efficiency by automating machine functions.   We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide engineering expertise in the design, implementation, and deployment of on-farm harvesting equipment for precision agriculture applications. 

 

 

About the Position 

The successful candidate will have a desire to work in a hands-on and collaborative environment where system development brings innovative solutions to the farmer’s field.

This position requires leadership skills, teamwork, and the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the business to support various projects and solutions. 
  • Own the design, testing, and productionizing of assigned products.
  • Use cutting-edge engineering design, modeling, and rapid prototyping tools to assist in research and invention of new product designs.
  • Validate products in the field.
  • Problem-solve during scale-up for commercial production.
  • Prepared and able to travel. U.S. travel is expected and can range from 5%-10%.

 

 Technical Skills

  • Solid modeling of mechanical parts using Creo or similar tools.
  • Ability to perform basic finite element analysis.
  • Creation of detailed prints for prototype and production parts.
  • Knowledge of prototyping techniques: 3D printing, machining, fabrication, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Understanding of technical limitations and cost implications of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, casting, powdered metal, stamping, & fabrication.
  • Experience designing enclosures for electronic controllers used in challenging conditions.
  • Background designing subcomponent tests for risk reduction before heading to the field.
  • Familiarity with writing technical manuals for installation, operation, and troubleshooting.

 

 Qualifications Required

  • A high degree of mechanical aptitude and experience.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to brainstorm out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Experience developing test plans and leading product testing in a simulated and real environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proven humility, flexibility, and commitment to engineering standards.

 

Experience / Education Required

  • Bachelor’s/Master's degree or equivalent in engineering or related field.
