The Design Engineer for Product Cost Optimization (PCO) supports the execution of cost‑reduction initiatives across two main workstreams: Design Change and Resourcing. This role performs engineering analyses, supports technical validations, prepares documentation, and collaborates with cross‑functional partners including Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.
The engineer is responsible for conducting feasibility studies, evaluating technical proposals, supporting engineering changes, assisting in supplier transitions, and performing validation activities when required. The position also contributes to PCO project tracking, reporting, and documentation, ensuring adherence to governance methods and on‑time execution.
The role includes supporting Agile team routines, maintaining task updates, and providing structured communication to stakeholders. This position does not act as Scrum Master or project owner, but provides engineering input and maintains high technical accuracy and rigor.
Your Impact
- Lead design changes by evaluating technical modifications, conducting feasibility studies, preparing engineering documentation, and supporting validation/testing.
- Support resourcing and PCO projects through supplier technical interactions, engineering assessments, data analysis, cost comparisons, and technical evaluations.
- Manage project documentation and governance deliverables while maintaining accurate task tracking and contributing to Agile routines.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure aligned and efficient execution of PCO initiatives.
- Prepare presentations, dashboards, and technical data; ensure compliance with standards; and act as an internal expert on Noesis/Omnia to maintain data accuracy and technical traceability.
Your Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience in product or manufacturing engineering, including cost‑reduction initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional environments; proficiency in BI tools and AI.
- Additional languages (German, Italian, French) considered an asset.
