Job Summary - Manager, Demand Chain NA

  • This position is primarily responsible to manage demand planning activities for aggregate and dealer level forecasting integral to AGCO’s monthly S&OP process to meet AGCO’s objectives for growth, market share and working capital utilization.  This is a matrix management position of Demand Planners and includes aggregate demand planning for retail through to production requirements as well as the development of process improvements to facilitate aggregate demand planning and dealer forecasting.

Job Function and Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver the NA region S&OP to support monthly mgmt. reviews for budget, financial forecasts and monthly updates.
  • Ensure we are executing effective plant level S&OP processes with all suppliers based upon production requirements generated through aggregate retail forecasts and AGCO objectives. 
  • Manage and report key performance indicators for Order Management including plant performance to production forecasts for Reliable Supplier initiatives with monthly meeting of all AGCO plants supplying NA.
  • Deliver S&OP forecasts to Finance to support corporate objectives for revenue and working capital management monthly including budget and quarterly financial forecasts with a focus to return on invested capital.
  • Manage and coordinate development of retail forecasts, review changes submitted by Demand Planning Analysts and Marketing Managers based upon multiple factors of current Sales and Marketing activities, historical performance and trends, product changes, new products, competitive position and industry.
  • Manage process for new product administration and tracking to ensure accurate new product information dates critical to AGCO’s Reliable Supplier initiative.
  • Manage the product/model portfolio to eliminate poor performing models that are not supportive of NA performance goals for revenue, working capital and return on invested capital.
  • Manage and maintain systems for aggregate model level forecasts for S&OP and multi-year forecasts including reporting.  Enhance planning system for additional automation to reduce training requirements and potentially resource requirements as NA volumes grow.
  • Support multi-year forecast processes to support AGCO SBP and AMDIS/AMPIP processes.  Support development of industry retail forecasts used in retail forecasting and planning.
  • Manage and maintain systems for dealer level retail forecasts capable of generating and managing target dealer inventory levels and order requirements.  Manage allocations process of monthly allocation of NA retail volumes to AM and dealer level and ARS targets.  Retail allocations and ARS targets are part of quarterly Field Sales compensation plan. 
  • Manage reporting of Sales activities including Pre-Sell and dealer forecasting and forecast changes.
  • Provide support to Directors in Marketing and others in Demand Planning, Order Management and Marketing through coaching and training on the DP processes and systems.
  • Provide management and support on projects and support of systems related to demand planning and order management.




  • 4 yr degree and/or equivalent relevant experience plus 10-15 years of AGCO or industry experience with 5+ years in Order Management and Demand Planning


Qualifications and Experience

  • Requires the application of business planning, business analytics, demand planning and order management principles; the ability to manage multiple variables and inputs (industry, marketing activities, product change, working capital objectives, production) and apply statistical models to forecast industry volumes and AGCO retail forecasts.  Based upon sound business principles and theory, the position will review recommendations made by others, then make final recommendations to management and execute agreed plans with all stakeholders - plants, suppliers, sales, marketing, and finance.
  • Requires comprehensive understanding of the business and industry
  • Requires advanced knowledge on business systems like oneAGCO/JDE, planning systems like SAP BPC, MS Office, reporting and analytic tools like Cognos or SAP BI; strong knowledge in financial or economic analysis as well process knowledge in process order management, demand planning and business analytics
  • Requires problem solving skills through analytical thought process utilizing multiple sources of data/input as well abstract thought process to evaluate, analyze and recommend alternative solutions for business and process decisions.    Non-standard situations involve making recommendations for review by director and in many cases decisions are executed without review prior to action.  Proactively identifies and resolves issues with order management and plants/ suppliers.

ADDITIONAL Requirements


Travel Required

  • Limited travel requirements of 5-10% may be required to facilitate planning activities with North America plants and potentially with other AGCO regions.

  • Impact is across all product areas within Demand Planning/Order Management and Marketing and external including Retail Customer, Dealers, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Senior Management and Production (internal and external suppliers)


Management Responsibility

  • Manages and provides direction to other Managers and Analysts within the Planning and Order Management group as well as other Directors and Managers within Sales and Marketing.  Responsibility and authority level has significant impact in AGCO’s performance on revenue and working capital; regular decisions and recommendation have multi-million dollar impacts to the business.  The recommendations and decisions made drive execution in operations for production, purchase and wholesale activities with responsibility to ensure activities support NA results to budgets and the latest forecasts.  Also significant authority and responsibilities in development of budgets, forecasts and processes to support AGCO corporate objectives and strategies.


Global or Regional?

  • Position is regionally focused on North America business with support of AGCO globally through management of global demand of North America plants providing products to other AGCO regions.  Position also has global scope in managing North America demand of global plants providing products to North America.
