​The Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal provides essential support to attorneys and patent agents in managing patent and trademark prosecution with the USPTO. The role involves preparing and filing documents, maintaining IP records and databases, tracking deadlines, and supporting licensing, agreements, and administrative processes. As part of the IP Admin Support Team, this position ensures timely and accurate handling of IP activities while supporting global teams in maintaining and protecting AGCO’s intellectual property portfolio.​ 

 

Your Impact 

  • Prepare, review, and file U.S. patent and trademark applications with the USPTO, including drafting initial responses for attorney review  

  • Manage docketing activities, track deadlines, and monitor all USPTO communications and action items  

  • Provide administrative and documentation support to attorneys and patent agents, including patent specifications and official correspondence  

  • Maintain internal IP records and databases, ensuring accuracy and timely updates  

  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including USPTO examiners, inventors, vendors, and HR, while managing payments, invoices, and patent-related accounts 

 

Your Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent experience (with a patent secretary background); Paralegal certification required. Working knowledge of standard office software applications.  

  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. patent and trademark systems and experience with intellectual property database management software. Familiarity with Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) regulations and international country rules and procedures relating to patent and trademark application filings.  

  • Ability to perform independently with minimal supervision and exercise of sound judgment. Sufficient technical and procedural knowledge to anticipate and support attorney prosecution needs. Fluency in the English language, with strong written and verbal communication skills.  

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and interact effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. High level of attention to detail combined with the ability to understand broader objectives and impacts.  

  • Experience conducting legal and nonlegal research across a broad range of subject areas is strongly preferred.
