Precision Agriculture Engineer Job

AGCO is currently seeking a Precision Agriculture Engineer to join our hay tools team in Hesston, KS. The Precision Agriculture Engineer will be responsible for working with the software, electrical, and mechanical design teams to identify, select, and integrate precision ag technologies. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with precision ag technologies
    • Knowledge and understanding of data generation and handling for agricultural equipment
    • Familiarity with telematics systems
    • Understanding of sensing technologies and their integration to mobile platforms
    • Experience with farm machinery, specifically hay equipment, is a strong plus
    • Knowledge and understanding of RFID is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with software design
    • Ability to understand scalable software architectures for use in mobile machinery
    • Ability to generate usable software requirements
    • Experience with C++ or similar languages a strong plus
    • Experience with software validation or the definition of validation plans is a strong plus
  • Standard communications
    • Proficient in mobile machinery communication protocols and standards, such as SAE J1939 and ISO 11783.
    • Ability to specify communications interfaces between precision ag systems and the core machine
    • Solid understanding of network communications for both on-board and off-board technologies
  • User Interface Design
    • Provide input to create efficient, intuitive, and user-friendly graphical user interfaces for mobile machinery
    • Strong customer focus is a must
  • Product support and training
    • Provide prompt support to the technical service department as needed
    • Lead informative, relevant product training for internal technical service staff, service training, and other engineering teams including field test
  • Teamwork
    • Ability to function effectively as a member of a small, high-output team
    • Ability and willingness to innovate given limited direction and contribute beyond your direct area of responsibility
  • Attitude
    • Solid decision making skills, and the ability to make decisions with limited direction
    • A desire to participate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of freedom for innovation

Required Qualifications of the Precision Agriculture Engineer:

- 3+ years of experience with precision agriculture, or related technologies

- B.S. degree in an engineering or technology curriculum, agronomy, computer science, or other relevant technical experience
