Who We Are Looking For:

AGCO, a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of agricultural solutions, has an exciting career opportunity for a Technical Design Engineer to join our team in Hesston, KS.  The Technical Design Engineer reports to Module Lead Engineer- Large Square Balers.  Responsibilities will involve design work from concept through the production of structural and mechanical components as required across individual products and projects.  This position may direct the work of design or development technicians and designers.

                       

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and implement designs in the area of mechanical components for agricultural equipment.
  • Perform design layouts with conformity to sound engineering concepts and usage to meet production requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with testing personnel to develop testing processes that provide robust and cost-effective products. 
  • Responsible for answering detailed product questions, answering change requests, detailing design changes, BOM development, and manipulation, revising prints, requesting and reviewing test work as well as ordering prototype components.
  • Present necessary information (drawings, specifications, test data, etc.) as required to those involved in production activities.     
  • Organize and facilitate design reviews with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of design changes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve the manufacturability of product designs.
  • Hands-on approach, design, and fit-up of components onto ag machines.
  • Must be able to travel as necessary in U.S. and internationally, if needed.

 

 

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • 3-5 years of design experience in engineering, with implementation, testing, and validating of component/product designs.
  • Experience with mechanical components and structural design is desirable. 
  • Skills in CREO or similar 3-D CAD systems. 

 

A Plus If You Have:

  • Ag experience/background desired but not required to aid in the understanding of agricultural equipment operation. 
  • Experience with layouts and drafting preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, detail-oriented, and good communication skills are necessary to work on a local and world-wide design teams.
