Manufacturing Engineer Internship
The AGCO Engineering internship program is designed to identify promising undergraduate students and give them robust and meaningful engineering projects than can be completed within a 10-12 week time frame. While there will be a range of different projects, all projects will require significant mechanical knowledge, research and collaboration with other engineers.
Each intern will be paired up with a manager or supervisor and an experienced engineer. The manager will serve as a counselor and will meet with the intern at least monthly to give career guidance and counseling. The Engineer will be a peer / coach who will help the intern with any day-to-day questions.
As an Intern, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of a specific engineering project, seeing it from start to finish. You will be expected to "ramp up" quickly and integrate seamlessly within engineering team.
The Manufacturing Engineer conducts research and development related to process and continuous improvement in the areas of quality, productivity and cost in manufacturing. Other responsibilities include; assisting with new product introduction activities, making suggestions to design engineers to improve the manufacturability of current designs, providing technical assistance, and training, lean manufacturing and project management.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Participate in Continuous Improvement activities including: Kaizen and Process Improvement Events.
- Identify and eliminate waste in all aspects of the manufacturing processes.
- Facilitate and drive Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout the organization.
- Perform line balancing activities to optimize the utilization of our assembly line process.
- Provide feedback to engineering on how to reduce costs from pre release design.
- Review drawings for any obvious errors and assist in tracking the RFT for proto components.
- Participate on behalf of manufacturing to influence design to enhance the manufacturability of applicable designs.
- Provide technical assistance, training, and information to engineering on the production capabilities of the manufacturing facility.
- Responsible for the direction, development, and review of support staff under their direct supervision as defined in the organization chart.
- Responsible for all aspects of project management on assigned projects including but not limited to the following: schedule development, schedule adherence, status monitoring, and budget compliance.
- Keep abreast of new development pertinent to one’s job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong academic performance: Strong GPA (2.8 or higher) or other academic achievements that demonstrate the ability to learn across multiple disciplines synthesize information and meet academic goals.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Initiative: Extra-curricular activities or other internships that show the candidate’s interests and the ability to harness passions to get things done.
- Analytic skills: Ability to use MS Office, 3-D modeling software to effectively to identify issues, summarize data and present information in an intelligent way for managers and directors to make effective decisions.
- Organization: Ability to follow instruction and delivery quality work product on time. Ability to ask the right questions and seek clarification when needed. Ability to organize data and stay on-task.
- Communications: Ability to communicate effectively. Professional mindset and demeanor in communication.
