Production Supervisor - Weld Job

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 

To manage the people, processes, systems and deviations of assigned work groups.

 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Enforce company safety rules and promote safety awareness by implementing processes to assure safety
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for the continuous systems improvement of the production activities
  • Inspect quality of work performed within the department to insure quality standards and accurate counts
  • Lead by example in all areas of assembly floor work activities
  • Report daily production activities
  • Coordinate shift changes
  • Coordinate process changes, including line changes for new models
  • Coordinate with Materials group to control inventory and insure efficient flow of materials into and through the department
  • Participate in cost reduction and other project-based activities
  • Coordinate continuous improvement, maintenance, safety and quality activities
  • Perform all required communication activities with assigned work groups
  • Provide input for resource requirements and coordinate the interview process
  • Plan labor, vacation, and overtime
  • Provide coaching to associates on the floor including performance reviews
  • Identify the need for and deliver any corrective action required in the department
  • Maintain efficiency in department
  • Provide individual training and instruction as required

Physical Involvement

 

  1. Must be able to sit and/or stand continuously for periods of 4 hours without a break.
  2. Must be able to visually utilize computers and other office equipment, to properly enter information, as well as read required documentation.
  1. Must be able to make precise visual inspections, as well as read detailed specifications, instructions, blueprints and/or diagrams for extended periods of time.
  1. Must be able to visually inspect and locate parts and materials, as well as read required documentation.
  1. Must be able to prepare concise, accurate written documents.
  1. Must be able to communicate clearly with all levels of management and employees.

 

Mental Involvement

 

  1. Must possess the ability to plan, organize and delegate responsibilities to subordinates while maintaining quality standards throughout one’s own performance.
  2. Excellent communication skills are required
  3. Must be able to perform basic arithmetic calculations ( i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  4. Must be able to analyze situations and select a course of action.
  1. Must be capable of multi-step and sequential problem solving activities; that include comparing, analyzing and calculating data relevant to Company operations.
  1. Must be flexible and willing to undertake a variety of tasks.

  1. Must possess the ability to understand and communicate both verbally and in written form in the English language since instructions, labels and other documents are in English.
  2. Must possess visual and mental attention to inspect parts/materials with accuracy.
  3. Must possess the ability to work independently and make decisions that require initiative and judgment in order to effectively plan, organize and delegate work assignments.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is often exposed to moving mechanical parts, constant factory noise, sharp objects, mobile forklifts and handcarts.  Employee must wear appropriate safety gear while working.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Knowledge and skills as would normally be obtained by a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a production environment

 

Skills:

  • Must have the ability to read engineering prints
  • Must be able to interpret Engineering, Quality and Testing requirements and make sound decisions
  • Must have basic math skills, understanding of conversions
