Summary of Responsibilities:

The Central and New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineering Team is responsible for the overall development and setting of the manufacturing sites standards, processes, and systems necessary for supporting production, along with launch and introduction of New Product.  The Manufacturing Engineering Technician’s primary role within this team is to work closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and corresponding production teams as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) to understand current capabilities, challenges, and opportunities for improving and further leveraging both current and new technology for increasing our factory capability, quality, safety, capacity, and productivity.

 

This role is responsible for problem solving, developing and defining initial production processes, visual documentation or work instruction development, and helping to determine appropriate tools and fixtures needed for production through NPI projects and activities.  Working closely with the current product operations teams to continuously understand pain points and opportunities is essential in further defining and developing our product design for manufacturability.  This position provides the opportunity to influence and drive change into our latest product designs for improving overall product manufacturability.

 

Job Duties:

  • Provide troubleshooting assistance with the Operations Mfg. Engineering team to understand process and procedure issues related to their designated production area.
  • Make decisions and solve problems in a quick concise manner that efficiently support product manufacturability.
  • Support MBOM Change Requests, maintenance, and releases through Windchill.
  • Help define, develop, and implement standards for manufacturing processes and systems and product.
  • Create and release drawings to support manufacturing released parts and assemblies. 
  • Responsible for creating clear work instructions and process documentation that establishes the proper workmanship standards and aligns with the quality control plans.
  • Perform technical reviews to improve manufacturability, optimize design for current process capabilities, print effectiveness, and tooling simplification.
  • Support growth and utilization of existing manufacturing technologies.
  • Assist in the design and development of production processes to ensure quality and reduce cost in the product.
  • Support quality and lean initiatives.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Two year college degree in a technical field, or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly productive with various types of software including the ability to learn and navigate within other more specialized systems quickly.
  • In-depth understanding of bill of materials, routings, engineering prints and work instructions.
  • Effectively communicate with different functional groups.
