The Tactical Buyer plays a critical role in the procurement function by managing global sourcing activities across North and South America, ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of goods and services. This position serves as a key link between operational purchasing and strategic procurement, with a strong focus on tactical execution.

The role is responsible for ensuring strong supplier performance across cost, delivery, quality, and warranty, in alignment with cross-functional requirements including materials management, supply continuity, supplier quality, warranty recovery, engineering, and aftersales.

Additionally, the Tactical Buyer supports New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives by closely collaborating with NPI and Engineering teams.

 

Your Impact

  • Develop and manage relationships with tactical suppliers under direct responsibility.
  • Act as the single point of contact (“one face”) for suppliers regarding requirements across all AGCO locations.
  • Drive process improvement and effective cost management, preventing variances and divergences while ensuring optimal sourcing strategies. Lead part-quotation activities by identifying the best sourcing options in alignment with the Strategic Category team and executing RFQs that meet cost, timing, and delivery requirements.
  • Source new components in a timely and cost-effective manner as part of the NPI process.
  • Develop and manage purchase bids for multiple projects, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Manufacturing, Aftersales, Project Management, and related teams.

 

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), Business Administration, or a related business field.
  • Fluent English is required, with strong structured communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven experience in negotiation and purchasing, with a hands on and results driven profile. Strong logical thinking and fast problem solving capabilities, enabling quick resolution of issues and effective decision making in dynamic environments.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; knowledge of SAP is required.
