The Category Buyer is responsible for managing the sourcing and procurement of Engines and Exhaust Aftertreatment systems. This role ensures supplier strategy alignment, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and risk management while supporting the overall category strategy led by the Global Category Manager.  
 

The Category Buyer plays a key role in supplier selection, market analysis, cost negotiations, and ensuring supplier performance meets business requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Finance teams. 

 

 

Your Impact: 

  • Sourcing & Category Strategy Execution Develop and execute sub-category sourcing strategies aligned with the overall category plan. Conduct market research and supplier benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities. Work closely with Global Category Managers to implement supplier strategies. Manage supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings, optimize payment terms, and drive value creation.  
  • Supplier Management & Performance Monitoring Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and service levels. Monitor supplier performance using KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost adherence, and quality standards. Conduct regular supplier reviews and drive improvement initiatives where needed. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure supplier compliance with company policies and sustainability objectives.  
  • Cost Management & Financial Analysis Own cost reduction initiatives within assigned sub-categories, ensuring alignment with budget targets. Track category spend, pricing trends, and supplier cost structures to support data-driven sourcing decisions. Analyses see total cost of ownership (TCO) and recommend cost-effective sourcing solutions. Ensure procurement savings and financial impact are documented and reported.  
  • Contract & Compliance Management Support the drafting, negotiation, and execution of supplier contracts and agreements. Ensure all sourcing activities adhere to procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical sourcing standards. Maintain accurate procurement records, ensuring audit readiness and compliance. Monitor supplier risk factors and collaborate with internal teams to develop risk mitigation plans.  
  • Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Engineering, Operations, R&D, and Finance to align procurement strategies with business objectives. Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding supplier issues, price negotiations, and market insights. Support new product introductions, supplier transitions, and procurement process improvements 

 

 

Your Experience and Qualification: 

  • Master / bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.  
  • Procurement or Supply Chain certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a plus.  
  • 3+ years of procurement, sourcing, or category management experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.  
  • English and Finnish Language is Mandatory. Strong experience in supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and contract management.  
  • Familiarity with SAP, eSourcing tools, and procurement analytics. Experience managing supplier relationships and driving cost-saving initiatives.
