The Cost Engineer is responsible for cross-functional support to internal stakeholders during the sourcing and product development process, helping to drive the regional procurement strategy and creating value for internal and external customers through detailed manufacturing process cost knowledge. The incumbent reports to Sr Manager Supplier Cost Engineering, Global Purchasing and delivers strategic, tactical and operational support for the Purchasing organization. As an advisor to Procurement Leadership and cross functional process partners, the incumbent manages Supplier Cost Engineering (SCA) projects, prioritizes strategic and tactical initiatives to embed robust procurement processes, driving cost savings and delivering sound metrics. 

 

Your Impact: 

  • Regional responsibility for the supplier cost reduction programs and process cost optimization  
  • Realize cost savings for externally sourced components by conducting detailed manufacturing process simulations & should cost calculations  
  • Provide active purchasing negotiation support to global commodity teams. Create saving opportunities by bringing new manufacturing concept ideas to supply-chain  
  • Define, implement and maintain standardized cost analysis systems, tools and instruments for procurement from a global perspective. Identify potential supplier development opportunities from process cost analytics  
  • Support for the AGCO School of Purchasing locally (topics: cost calculation / negotiation / value analysis). Develop internal knowledge and expertise on manufacturing technologies 

 

Your Experience and Qualification: 

  • University degree in Engineering (Bachelor/Master) or equivalent. Further MBA and/or academic training in business/economics is a plus.   
  • Ideally over 2 years of work experience in a cost analyst/engineering -related role, but talented applicants with less experience are also considered.     
  • Fluent English and Finnish, further European languages are a plus.  
  • You are data driven and detail-oriented with strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of the complete business environment from the aspects of purchasing, engineering, quality, and manufacturing.   
  • Proven track record of cross-functional project management and active participation in procurement negotiations. Ability to communicate at all levels in a cross-functional, matrix-oriented, multicultural organization. Manufacturing process knowledge in the agricultural machinery industry field such as castings, forgings, machining, metal fab, electrics & electronics, plastics, etc. is a plus.
