Job Summary
The Project Buyer is responsible for managing and executing sourcing and procurement activities in accordance with Category strategies for special or New Product Introduction projects, as assigned by the direct manager or director. This role supports category buyers and procurement managers by executing procurement tasks, ensuring supplier alignment, and handling operational sourcing for assigned projects.
The Project Buyer plays a critical role in supplier coordination, sourcing execution, purchase order management, and cost tracking. The role requires strong project management skills, the ability to interact with different databases and IT tools, attention to detail, hold suppliers accountable to timelines, and the ability to handle multiple sourcing projects efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Procurement Execution
Execute sourcing activities related to special or New Product Introduction projects as assigned by Global Category Manager or Director.
Manage RFQ (Request for Quotation) processes, ensuring competitive pricing and supplier compliance.
Issue and manage purchase orders (POs), ensuring timely procurement of materials and services.
Ensure supplier capacity aligns with project timelines and business needs.
Supplier Coordination & Management
Work closely with Category Buyers and Procurement Managers to ensure supplier selection and alignment with category strategy.
Track supplier on-time delivery, order accuracy, and performance metrics.
Assist in supplier escalations, resolving order issues and delivery delays efficiently.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve communication and efficiency.
Cost & Financial Tracking
Ensure cost competitiveness by negotiating favorable terms for high-volume procurement.
Track procurement costs, savings, and budget adherence for assigned projects.
Work with Finance and Procurement teams to ensure invoice accuracy and cost reporting.
Contract & Compliance Management
Support contract execution by ensuring purchase orders and agreements comply with company policies.
Ensure supplier compliance with quality, sustainability, and regulatory standards.
Maintain procurement documentation for audit readiness and compliance tracking.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth material flow.
Align with Category Buyers on procurement strategy and support sourcing execution.
Assist in supplier onboarding and system updates related to procurement activities.
Experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of procurement or sourcing experience, preferably in a direct materials procurement organization in manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong experience in RFQs, supplier coordination, and purchase order management.
- Knowledge of SAP, eProcurement tools, and contract execution.
- Fluent English required; additional languages are a plus.
- Experience handling supplier escalations and managing procurement tasks independently.
Operational Procurement Execution: Ability to handle sourcing tasks, RFQs, and purchase orders efficiently.
Supplier Coordination: Experience working with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and order fulfillment.
Cost & Budget Management: Ability to track and optimize procurement costs in a high-volume environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong ability to work with internal teams to align procurement activities with project needs.
Attention to Detail & Compliance: Ability to ensure procurement processes align with company policies and contract requirements
ERP & Digital Procurement Tools: Experience with SAP, procurement software, and digital sourcing tools.
