The Sr Director, Purchasing PTx is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the end-to-end strategic oversight of PTx procurement and sourcing functions. This role balances the "big picture"—such as building resilient global supply chains and driving long-term cost savings—with the "fine detail" of contract negotiation and vendor performance management.

As a key member of the Supply Chain management team, you will lead a department dedicated to securing high-quality materials and services at the best possible value, ensuring that production and operations can operate smoothly.

This role supports the production/sourcing of approximately 21 million units annually across five global manufacturing sites and an extended contract manufacturing network, ensuring material continuity and cost competitiveness across a significant Cost of Sales (COS) base. The Director is accountable for safeguarding supply continuity while driving structural cost optimization at scale.

Your Impact

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute comprehensive purchasing strategies that align with the PTx  financial goals and operational needs.
  • Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with a diverse network of suppliers. Negotiate master service agreements (MSAs) and manage high-level contract renewals.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyze market trends and internal spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities, implement lean procurement processes, and manage the annual purchasing budget.
  • Risk Mitigation: Monitor global market conditions to anticipate supply chain disruptions. Develop "Plan B" contingencies for critical materials or services.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a team of buyers and procurement specialists, fostering a culture of professional growth and ethical sourcing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance, Operations, and Product Development to ensure procurement activities support new product launches and inventory targets.
  • Innovation Enabling: Support the agile innovation engine, which is a key competitive PTx advantage, through early involvement, speed, simplicity, and governance.
  • Direct Material Strategy & Capacity Assurance: Lead sourcing and supplier capacity planning for direct materials supporting 21M units of annual production, ensuring alignment with S&OP forecasts and manufacturing ramp plans.
  • Supplier Performance Governance: Establish and lead supplier scorecards covering OTIF, quality, cost performance, and responsiveness. Escalate and resolve chronic performance issues impacting production continuity.
  • Working Capital Optimization: Partner with Finance and Operations to optimize inventory turns, payment terms, and material lead times to improve cash flow and reduce excess/obsolete risk.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Finance; an MBA or Master’s in Logistics is highly preferred for this leadership level.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years in procurement or supply chain, with at least 3–5 years specifically in a senior management or director-level role.
  • Professional Certification: Active professional designation such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), or MCIPS.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing multi-year global sourcing strategies that have resulted in significant, documented cost savings.
  • Deep understanding of legal terminology, indemnification clauses, and international trade laws to oversee the drafting and execution of complex MSAs.
  • Advanced proficiency in enterprise resource planning software—such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite—and experience implementing e-Procurement or AI-driven spend tools.
  • Experience managing international logistics and customs, with a nuanced understanding of how geopolitical events and currency fluctuations impact pricing.
  • Strong ability to analyze balance sheets, manage multi-million dollar budgets, and report on procurement's direct impact on EBITDA and cash flow.
  • A history of leading departmental transformations, such as consolidating fragmented purchasing teams or migrating to new digital procurement platforms.
  • A pristine record of ethical conduct and a thorough understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards and sustainable sourcing practices.
