About the Role: 

 

The Business Development Manager role within Precision Planting is about 3 primary components OEM relationships and development, partner relationships and development, and regulatory affairs management in relation to government and environmental regulations that affect our industry. 

 

OEM: 

Within North America we have several key OEM relationships where Precision Planting products and technology are integrated in the factory onto OEM planters. This role is to assist in managing these relationships. Specifically, this will focus on efforts to educate, train and develop OEM resources to be experts with our technology in their sales efforts.  

Partners: 

We maintain many partner programs within North America. These programs provide rebates to farmers to acquire and outfit Precision Planting products on their equipment in the areas of fertility, crop protection and biologicals. The role focuses on promoting both internally and externally the value of these programs through education and training, managing a new online partner portal designed to provide visibility and accountability for these programs, and ensuring the programs continue to meet company objectives. With new products and technology in development at Precision Planting this role will also assist in identifying, developing, and managing new partnerships as these products become commercial. Additionally, this role will assist our international teams with identifying and developing new partnerships in the respective markets. 

Regulatory Affairs: 

Regulations and the associated funding to meet those regulations will play an increasingly important role on the farm moving forward. This position will provide insight for Precision Planting on the developing regulations and how they affect our customers. Aligning funding from federal and state resources with Precision Planting products will be key in this endeavor. 

  

What would I be doing? 

 

This role is about recognizing opportunities and structuring our relationships to capitalize on those opportunities. This includes: 

OEM: 

  • Identifying areas for growth within the OEM sales teams and their respective dealers and developing and executing strategies to meet objectives.  

  • Discover training and development opportunities to educate on products and technologies that will enhance the offerings currently provided by the OEM teams. 

  • It is estimated that 20% of time would be allocated to OEM development. 

 

Partners: 

  • Find areas of focus within the Precision Planting sales team and their dealers to educate and train on how existing partner programs can provide dealers the opportunity to; 

  • Educate growers 

  • Get on new farms 

  • Sell more product 

  • Market research to understand the opportunity and join prospective new partners for both existing and new Precision Planting products and technology to enhance the current partnerships with new and relevant partners both domestically and internationally. 

  • It is anticipated that 60% of time will be allocated to Partner development. 

 

Regulatory Affairs: 

Detecting current and coming regulations that affect our industry and developing and executing a strategy to align internal sales resources and dealers with the regulations and associates funding. 

It is anticipated that 20% of time will be allocated to Regulatory Affairs. 

 

What must I have? 

  • High School diploma 

  • 2+ years in Agriculture industry 

  • Working knowledge of fertility an agriculture environment 

  • Preferred 

  • 2+ years with Precision Planting dealers 

  • 2+ years’ experience with Precision Planting products 

  • 4-year college degree
