Intern, Engineering (Project Manager) Job

Posting Title:  Project Manager Internship (August 2021 – December 2021, full-time)


The candidate will perform general project management duties as listed below. Winnipeg site consists of two office locations, a laboratory for grain research, and a research and development shop. All locations are in close proximity to each other at the University of Manitoba smart park. Cross functioning will be required with various managers and staff. Responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects including tasks such as the development of project timelines and resource plans, monitoring and summarizing progress of the project, and ensuring buy-in from project stakeholders and process owners. In addition, this resource ensures appropriate resource utilization, management of issues, dependencies and risks throughout the project lifecycle and compliance with project methodologies, plans and budgets.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assistance preparing budget
  • Financial reporting as assigned
  • Generating various reports and presentations as assigned
  • Project management support to Product Owners and Product Development Managers as necessary, with responsibilities that may include any of the following; maintenance of overall project definition, management and tracking, covering aspects of entire lifecycle, from project definition and requirements gathering, through implementation, including integration, training, go-live, support, including standard functionalities and custom developments.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to track and maintain schedule
  • Provides feedback to managers on level-loading and bottlenecks
  • Analytics and reporting
  • Monitors progress, identifies dependencies on other projects, manages risks and issues closely through systematic review of analytics

Essential Skills and Experience



  • Post-secondary education, partial or complete


Qualifications and Experience


  • Minimum of 1-2 years of prior experience preferred but not required
  • Personable, reliable, courteous, hard working
  • Able to work independently and as part of team
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with the following task and project management tools are an asset; Microsoft Excel, MS Project, Jira, Team Gantt, Trello, Lucid Chart
  • Experience in budget preparation
  • Understanding of Agile business practices
