The Director of Engineering for Seeding and Tillage provides global leadership in the engineering strategy, development, and execution of seeding, planting, and tillage platforms. This role is responsible for defining and delivering a comprehensive product roadmap that balances agronomic performance, reliability, quality, safety, and cost competitiveness. The Director oversees global engineering teams involved in new product development, current product enhancements, and technical support, ensuring alignment with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Global Seeding and Tillage Engineering organization, overseeing planters, seeders, and tillage platforms in various regions.
- Define and execute the product and technology roadmap to ensure the delivery of high-value, competitive products that meet agronomic performance, quality, reliability, safety, and cost targets.
- Guide the technical design and development of new and improved products, ensuring they comply with customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering standards.
- Provide technical leadership for current product enhancements, lifecycle management, and maintenance of product structures.
- Oversee prototype builds, validation, and verification activities, establishing predictable and robust validation and verification programs that support program commitments.
- Ensure product program objectives are achieved through the stage-gate product development process (AMPIP), delivering the defined scope, timing, cost, and performance outcomes.
- Champion Engineering Change Management and New Product Design Reviews, promoting strong cross-functional collaboration and decision-making.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Program Management, Marketing, Sales, and Aftermarket—to develop and implement product strategies.
- Plan, establish, track, analyze, and proactively manage departmental budgets, project schedules, resources, and product cost targets.
- Research and evaluate new technologies, methods, and tools, introducing innovations that enhance product performance, manufacturability, and speed to market.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering and product development processes by leveraging internal best practices and external partnerships.
- Build, develop, and retain organizational capability through talent development, goal setting, coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
- Provide engineering leadership for both internal and customer technical support, ensuring timely resolution of product issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Complete Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline. CREA register.
- 15+ years of engineering experience in a product development environment, demonstrating mastery of complex engineering, systems integration, and manufacturability.
- Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Demonstrated success managing complex, multi‑year platform or system programs.
- Strong understanding of stage‑gate product development processes.
- Fluency in English (communication, writing)
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Portuguese.
- Experience with agricultural equipment, particularly planters, seeders, and/or tillage products.
- Global engineering leadership experience across multiple regions.
- Strong financial acumen related to cost targets, budgets, and business cases.
Your Workplace
This job position is based in Ibiruba/RS and the work format is Onsite (4x1). The travels volume is around 25-30% of the time.
